Flat fee · manuscript to upload

Your book is finished. The file work is not.

Quirehaus takes a completed manuscript and returns a validated EPUB, print-ready files, correct metadata, and a live storefront listing. One fee per title. No freelancers to brief, no validation errors at midnight.

What you get

Four deliverables, one handoff.

Every title gets the same four pieces. The point is not polish for its own sake. It is that nothing is left for you to chase the night before launch.

Validated EPUB

Files pass EPUBCheck before they reach you, so there is no re-cutting and no debugging at 1 AM.

Store-ready cover

Your supplied cover art adapted to the exact storefront spec, delivered print-ready with a thumbnail.

Metadata, set correctly

BISAC codes, categories, authors, and contributors — the fields the stores actually read and rank on.

Listing uploaded

Your title goes live on the store or stores your bundle covers, before the handoff.

How it works

A fixed cadence, not a one-off gig.

  1. Send the manuscript

A clean DOCX or EPUB draft, plus your cover art. I confirm the brief and the bundle within one business day.

  2. I validate, adapt, and upload

EPUB validation, cover spec, metadata, print interior where the bundle includes one, then the listing goes live.

  3. You review and ship

A handoff pack arrives with every file and identifier you need to publish, advertise, or print again later.

Who runs this

The same workflow I run on my own imprint.

Quirehaus is not a reseller sitting between you and a freelancer. I publish Residuum Press, a literary imprint with sixteen titles across ebook, paperback, and hardcover, all produced and uploaded on this workflow. Every step in the bundle is one I run on my own books first.

Manuscript condition

What fits a bundle, and what does not.

In scope

A clean DOCX

A single-column export from Word, Pages, or Google Docs: chapter breaks intact, no embedded fonts or floating objects, a basic heading hierarchy, and images already placed with alt text.

Out of scope

What I cannot take as-is

Hand-set InDesign, LaTeX, complex multi-column layouts, manuscripts needing structural editing, missing alt text, scans requiring OCR, or editing while production is live.

Rescope

When the brief changes

Copy-editing, image-set rebuilds, alt-text remediation, or a manuscript well over 120,000 words is quoted separately, with the surcharge or revised bundle agreed before production starts.

FAQ

The questions authors actually ask.

Still deciding? Email quirehaus@protonmail.com with a short note about your title and I will reply within a business day.

What is the turnaround?
Most titles clear in 7 to 10 business days end to end, starting from a clean DOCX and a confirmed brief. That covers EPUB validation, cover adaptation, metadata, print-ready files, and the live listings. Larger or more complex titles take longer, and I say so on the enquiry rather than after you have paid.
Do you design covers, or do I bring one?
You bring the cover. Across all three bundles the cover art is supplied by the author, and Quirehaus applies the correct spec for the chosen storefront — Kindle, KDP paperback, or IngramSpark. Cover design and illustration are a separate brief with a designer, and I can refer you to one if you need it.
What happens if the EPUB fails validation?
EPUBCheck runs before delivery, so a failing file should reach you only in unusual cases. If it does, the fix is mine: I deliver a corrected file and revalidate it without charging again. The handoff stays a single fixed-fee deliverable.
What counts as a clean manuscript?
A single-column DOCX export from Word, Pages, or Google Docs, with chapter breaks intact, no embedded fonts or floating objects, a basic heading hierarchy, and images already placed with alt text. Copy-editing, image-set rebuilds, alt-text remediation, OCR of scans, editing during production, or a manuscript well over 120,000 words is scoped separately, and always agreed before work starts.
What is the refund policy?
If I cancel before production starts, you get a full refund. Once production is underway the bundle is non-refundable, because the time is already committed. If you have pre-paid a retainer and do not use the balance, the unused amount is returned at the end of the working relationship rather than held indefinitely.
Who owns the rights to the finished book?
You do, in full. Quirehaus is a non-exclusive production service. I produce the files, set your metadata, and place your listing. I do not register the work, take a royalty stake, or resell or republish anything you send. Your manuscript stays in my working storage and nowhere else.
Which bundle fits my title?
$600 is for ebook-only digital-first releases and short-run reissues. $950 is the default for indie titles that also need a print edition, adding a paperback on the same workflow. $1,200 adds IngramSpark, which is what most small presses want for retail and library distribution. If you are publishing four or more titles a month, ask about the retainer rate.

Ready when you are

Send the manuscript. I will handle the last mile.

One email per title is enough: author, title, and a clean DOCX or EPUB. I will confirm the bundle and the turnaround the next business day.
